AYE PROGRAMS
AYE is a 26-week cultural enrichment/academic collaborative program
between CPRD and the Math Literacy Project that offers workshops for inner
city youth. The AYE project is designed to develop a strong sense of self-awareness
and community consciousness within each individual participant. The program
provides culturally competent artistic enrichment activities, leadership
development workshops as well as math and science workshops. In 2000,
CPRD received the Coming Up Taller Award by the President’s Committee
on the Arts and Humanities for after-school programming.
SEASON OF SCHOOLS
Since 1970, the Season of Schools Performance Series has touched
well over half a million residents in the greater Denver area by means
of the school system.
This program is part of an on-going effort to incorporate the arts into
the established curriculum of the public schools. Through performance
and workshop techniques, the Ensemble involves students in the magic of
the modern dance experience.
Cleo Parker Robinson and her Ensemble believe in the importance of dance
and education. The Season of Schools offers students of all ages the opportunity
to learn about the many languages of dance, such as ballet, modern, tap,
african, and jazz. Demonstrating lifts and leaps, the dancers leave the
students in awe, while at the same time demonstrating the important qualities
of trust, tolerance and interdependence that we all must develop in life.
All this is followed by a small performance from the company repertoire.
During the 45 minutes program the students will not only learn by watching
but will also have the opportunity to join the Ensemble in dance!
