Healing Power of Art- K-12 Workshops
Since inception, the Healing Power of Art program has served well over half a million K-12 students in school districts throughout the Front Range. This in-school initiative is part of an on-going effort to incorporate the arts into the established curriculum of the public schools. Through performance and workshop techniques, the Ensemble engages students in the magic of movement and creative expression.
Cleo Parker Robinson Dance employs both best practices in arts-in-education as well as dance instruction in a variety of genres to stimulate academic learning. The CPRD Ensemble works with more than 30 K-12 schools each year providing over 250 workshops through these unique partnerships. Under the Healing Power of Arts program, the Ensemble may offer a 45-minute lecture/demonstration – its signature audience participation demonstration and performance. Or the Ensemble may work with a school to deliver curriculum through one-week to year-long residencies. Residencies are mapped to Colorado State Education standards, and present exciting ways to enliven the curriculum and transform abstract concepts into tangible subjects.
One of the primary objectives of the Healing Power of Art program in both the lecture/demonstration and residency format is to inform positive and healthy social development for a diverse world.
