Why this street renaming matters:

Cleo Parker Robinson has spent over five decades
building a home for dance, community, and the healing
arts right here on this block. Renaming this street is
not just an honor — it is a permanent mark on
Denver’s cultural landscape that will outlast all of us.

What this means for current residents:

If the renaming is approved, the addresses of current residents will officially reflect the new street name. Here’s what to plan for:

– Government-issued ID and passport
– Driver’s license
– Bank and billing statements
– Mail and subscriptions
– Employer and tax records

USPS will provide a forwarding period to ensure no mail is missed during the transition.

As a neighborhood partner we would like to help make this historic moment as easy as possible.

But we need your signature to make it happen.

“Cleo Parker Robinson is more than a legendary dancer and choreographer—she is a living architect of Denver’s cultural soul. For decades, she has used the arts to build bridges across race, generation, and neighborhood while inspiring countless young people to discover their purpose through creativity and discipline. Renaming a portion of Washington Street in her honor is more than changing a sign; it is ensuring that our city’s landscape reflects the people whose vision, sacrifice, and excellence have shaped Denver for generations. This recognition tells future generations that Black history, Black artistry, and Black leadership are not only remembered—they are permanently woven into the fabric of our community. I wholeheartedly support this well-deserved tribute to Cleo Parker Robinson.”
