Cleo Parker Robinson Dance is an international, performing arts and educational institution rooted in African American traditions, and dedicated to excellence in providing cross-cultural instruction, performances and enrichment programs empowering all our communities by cultivating the healthy mind, body and spirit development for intergenerational students, artists and audiences.

The Legacy of Cleo Parker Robinson
For over 50 years, Cleo Parker Robinson has built a space where dance becomes more than movement — it becomes healing, storytelling, and connection. From founding CPRD in 1970 to leading tours across 40+ countries, Cleo has shaped a legacy that continues to uplift artists, students, and communities worldwide.
For more than 50 years, Cleo Parker Robinson has transformed lives through the healing power of dance. As Founder and Artistic Director of Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, she built an institution rooted in African American traditions and open to all who believe in movement as a universal language of unity, healing, and joy.
Since establishing CPRD in 1970, Cleo has created and commissioned more than 100 original works, toured across 40+ countries, and reached more than a million students through education programs. Her vision has grown into a professional Ensemble, a vibrant Academy, community outreach programs, and a landmark Theatre that serves as a cultural hub in Denver.
Recognized nationally and internationally as a cultural leader and ambassador, Cleo continues to inspire dancers, students, and audiences worldwide — shaping stories of the African Diaspora while empowering new generations to rise through dance.
