Sharing treasures long unseen from the richly diverse Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble’s 53 years of artistic brilliance, we can’t wait to welcome our Denver audience on Mother’s Day weekend! This concert will feature Cleo’s timeless work Mary Don’t You Weep which she created in the early 70’s as part of her Spiritual Suite, a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and her brother, John, who died at the age of 19. This treasured work calls on the Biblical figures of the three Mary’s to depict the sisterhood of women in their shared journey through profound grief.
For patrons seeking an even deeper experience, Saturday’s performance includes a pre-show reception from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This $75 ticket includes drinks, food, and a chance to mingle with Cleo and other concert creatives! Saturday attendees will also receive a signed limited-edition copy of the newly released book Swans of Harlem, sharing the stories of Karlya Shelton-Benjamin and four other Black Ballerinas of the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
Cleo Parker Robinson Dance (CPRD) uses the universal language of dance to honor the African Diaspora, explore the human condition, champion social justice, unite people of all ages and races and ultimately celebrate the complexity of life through movement.
